Reading
- Student's learning styles vary and lessons are tailored to the student, not the method book.
- Playing piano involves much more than simply playing correct notes in the proper sequence with acceptable technique. Theoretical analysis, ear training, memorization techniques, history, and musicality are some of the components involved in the study of piano.
- Frequently, older piano students require flexibilty in scheduling in order to continue piano study. Academics, sports, driver's ed, band or orchestra, and drama productions are but a few of the many activities open to these students. It is usually possible to create a lesson schedule that allows for progress in piano, albeit somehwat slower than weekly lessons, and doesn't require the student give up other opportunities.
